Is this light dead?
May I ask what your other settings were when you were using f/16, please?
Great instructor!! I still have an old pocket wizard too. Great work on the videos!!
Great videos. Hope Bowen makes new one this year or next. Wish you great success in 2024 and next year.
Great information 👍
Thank you for the videos. Wish Bowen the best this year and next.
Nice job
The videos are great. Wish you great success this year.
Great videos. Hope they make a new one this year if not busy.
God damn it she’s so beautiful
Mr. White knows his stuff to be sure. But for him to ask another Black man to say, "Watermelon" to get them to smile it the hight of idiocy! Him being a Black man - he should know better than to make such a ridiculous request. 🙄
“This is what they took from us/we used to be a real country.” This is a wonderful video
I am glad they have these videos that you can use today or refresher course for fun.
Thanks for the videos. I hope you make more videos if not busy.
Looks good.Hope to see more.
That quick ring is amazing!
These tutorials were so inspiring. Bowens really raised the bar with these.
Haven't watched this one!
This teaching method is THE BEST. Seeing what every light does step by step is just pure gold.
Comino back to this video 6 years later. Spectacular lighting. This tutorial is next level.
Tony your videos helped me a lot when I was starting to try lighting. Thank you so much. BTW I am gonna look for some of those gorgeous soft boxes. There must be some somewhere 🔥
@ 9:26 Why not to bleed the capacitors, if you discharge it for photo it will hit at 11.4, if you bleed it it will charge again for your settings f8?
I had forgotten about these Bowens tutorials. These are really cool.
I am glad the videos are still available for people in United States to watch. Great content.
Awesome!! Great tutorial.
This has to be the most useful lighting video I've ever seen. If I have to hear about three point lighting anymore on RUclips I'm gonna kill someone.
I also congratulate you on such a short to the point video. Some videos you have to spend a day to watch.
This education is free??? This information is worth hundreds of dollars. This cuts through so much of the misinformation on the web regarding how to light with a softbox.
Joe has this annoying tendency to ask his guest a question, then he answers his own question, even as the guest is answering.
Nicely done great light, I did not think your back side lights are Strip lights, technically they look like half domes with grids which is a very nice way to separate your subject from the background! Very cool look!
Are you using continuous lightning ?
This is why modeling lights are king
This is Joel Grimes' "go to" lighting setup; created by him...
It’s exactly correct… when the digital cameras were introduced no professional popped up. Now phone photographers are behaving like Pros. I’m still with old school Pro light user with latest mirrorless gear
Glad to find the channel. Hope to see more shows.
I don't know if anyone answers these still. At the 27 minute mark.. What can I do to figure percentages with a cheaper meter (all I can afford) like the Sekonic L-308X-U?
Blue and yellow gels would be appropriate right now.
Centimeters? How many of those ffit inside an inch?
Four errors errors: 1) outdoor or location photography is just as professional as studio work; 2) I use Bowens mounts with my Nikon and Godox V1 and pocket flashes touse strip boxes, softboxes, umbrellas, etc.; 3) The Godox V1 has a modeling light as does the AD2000. And, my Nikon SB5000 has a temporary modeling light. And my prints look as professional as any shot with "studio" lights. So, the only legitimate reasons for using studio lights is an increase in power, and some studio lights have a faster recycle time; 4) Light ratio is a guess with any lighting unless you meter it. You have a video on metering, so you're contradicting your self here.
Sekionic makes good meters. I use one. And, fixed photos are often of lower quality that correctly exposed ones.
Average skin tone is Ansel Adam's zone 6, medium gray is zone 5.
I like Tony's hat! * Amen on getting it right in camera! * It looks like Tony uses the same meter I do. Great meter.
Where is the flash coming from?
The Godox V1 has its own battery that lasts quite a while. My Nikon SB5000 uses AA batteries. It would be nice to have more power than even the Pocket Flash puts out. I like that little clamp.
Same meter I have. Works very well. I don't know what camera brand you use, but if I use back button focus and reframe the focus changes when I push the shutter button. And, I don't like having to use two buttons. One is enough to deal with. Accordingly, I never use back button focus.
With certain exceptions, shooting portraits in a vertical format makes use of more of the sensor on the subject, which equals a higher quality image. This will show up in a 40x60" or larger print. * Great video. * My go-to lens is my Nikkor 24-120. I use it for 95% of my work. I also have the 14-24 mm, which is necessary for certain situations. For portraits I agree with you. I shoot most of them from 85mm-100mm, unless I need a 3/4 or full length in a tight space. But wider focal lengths have to be use carefully so as to not get a lot of distortion.
At 18:40-- Everything you say here is true. However, for soft light diffusers do make a difference. If they didn't, manufacturers wouldn't spend the overhead to include them. Some RUclipsrs contradict themselves by saying diffusers don't work, then explain the difference between beauty lights without diffusion and SOFTboxes. That said, light source v. distance to the subject is the main softening agent. * The "infamous" ( :-) ) yellow transmitter.
Thank you
Excellent video. I have one question i like to ask. This is with setup #3. the clamshell lighting setup (my all time favorite lighting setup.) When it comes to metering. Is it best to meter the light before i put the reflector in, or can i meter the light with the light, and reflector both together? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Remember when this idiot said in a photography forum that alec soth sucks
